remaining calm.
Jan. 5th, 2010 02:52 pmOookay. So, the new AC adapter came for the laptop, but the problem remains. Seems it wasn't the adapter.
I freaked out a little, but I'm okay now. I called HP and they were horrible to me because it's out of warranty, so I hung up on them. However, after some Internet research, I have a few options. They all involve opening the thing and poking around in it, which is scary, but between myself and Meridan, I think we can do it.
There are three possibilities. One, some video cord thing has come unplugged; two, I have a bad cooling fan and I need a new one; or three, I need a new motherboard. Luckily, none of these things cost more than the laptop is worth to fix.
Again, not freaking out about this. Remaining calm. I know I can fix it. I refuse to submit to some Geek Squad bullshit and pay more than the laptop is worth just to have some asshole poke around in it and tell me what I already know - it's broken.
My dad wants to help me fix up my old desktop as well. Meridan and I were already planning on building a PC at some point, so this might be a good opportunity to just get some new parts for my old one and see what we can make.
Sigh. So glad for Meridan's old laptop. I even found my micro SD USB adapter, so I can post photos.
