Oh, internets, things have been moving and shaking.  And HOW.

So, a year and a half after our hush-hush elopement, Meridan and I finally did the deed.  In front of our parents, no less!  It was plenty of fun, and I'm glad I did it, though I'm glad to be rid of the thing now.  Planning weddings makes my face fall off.

My mom was too drunk to come.  This is a shitty thing, but true, and my father wants to give me another wedding/party thing in the fall to make up for it, hoping she'll be better off then.  We'll see, is all I can say.

I hope I looked presentable - I felt humongous, but I usually feel like that lately.  Six straight months of fast food due to insane busy schedules have made Meridan and I a little too settled, if you get my drift.

But, all this is about to change!  For as my wedding present from the universe... Meridan and I have to move out of our apartment.

See, there's this thing called rent.  It's fucking expensive.  And we can't afford it anymore.  Period.  So, we're packing up our things and heading to my dad's for a temporary stay while we look for our own trailer to buy.

Yes, our very own trailer!  Swimming pools, movie stars.  Packed up the truck and moved to Beverly.  As Meridan said, we're one drug conviction away from white trash - and if you count Mom in the equation, that makes us even closer owing to the drug conviction part.  Sigh.

I'm thinking of it as an adventure.  Also, the thought of being free from rent is extremely freeing.  I mean, we'll have a trailer payment - of like, $100 a month.  Quite the improvement over the $750 we have now.

We'll be parking it at my dad's place, plugging into his sewer and electricity and all that jazz.  It won't be so bad.  And, well, it is what it is.  Meridan now is free to do the pharmacy tech program up at Clover Park Tech in Lakewood without worrying that he should get full time work instead.  And that's worth it.  I have work until next January, so hallelujah there.

So.  Now to not fail my classes.  This might be more of a stretch than you'd think.  Ugh.

oops.

Yeaaah... I had no idea my crossposts weren't working recently.  It's okay - you guys haven't missed much.

I never post to LJ any more, and I won't be doing so.  I have Dreamwidth invite codes, if anyone would like them - I seriously recommend it.  It's far better over on this side without games and crap and shit not working... you know.

Anyways.  Just started my new quarter this week - one more quarter!  I'm pretty stoked to be this close to being done.

Wedding plans are moving along.  I bought a dress, and it fucking rocks.  And that is all for the moment.  :)

I just don't even know, people.

I can't stop buying baby stuff for my little niece, Chava.  She's home from the hospital now, weighing over 4 pounds - considering she was born at 30 weeks, she's doing aces.  And, well, stores... they sell baby things, you know.  I wasn't necessarily aware of this before I discovered I was going to be an auntie, and now I CANNOT STOP.  Damn you, baby industrial complex.  These things are so tiny and so cute.

I got in an argument with my mom about the baby clothes, which was a little funny... she was with me while I was shopping, and kept insisting I should get the 6 month sized clothes and not the newborn ones.  I was like, um, this child is 4 pounds.  She can't even fit in the newborn sizes yet.  I think it'll be fine.  :P  She's nuts, but that's old news.

I have to literally cram all of the wedding planning into the 10 days I have off for spring break.  That's going to be awesomesauce.

Finishing up school applications, la la la.  Meridan's definitely going to have to take some summer courses, and I'm trying to do the same, so it'll be a busy summer.

I have nothing interesting to say.

Finals week next week.  Hate.

Ravage was the proud recipient of a bath last weekend.  It actually went really well - we dumped him in the tub, pointed the shower head nozzle at him, dumped some shampoo on his head and went to town.  He wasn't particularly thrilled with getting wet, but he fucking loved the attention while he was getting dried off.  (The hair dryer... not so much.)

Finn got one tonight... she wasn't particularly wriggly, but she did make her whiny meow a lot, and it took so long for her to dry.  It's been hours, and she's still kinda damp.  She doesn't seem to be too mad at us, but she's a bit more jumpy when we get near her.  She also apparently HATES getting her paws wet.  For reals.

Clean kitties smell nice and are soft.  :)

Meridan and I picked wedding rings from Etsy this evening - I shall order them at the end of the month.  Productive!  I'm super awesome.

My stupid email account got hacked the other night.  So, after changing passwords and stuff, I decided to just stop using the old one and make a new one.  Anybody can message me through Dreamwidth or LJ, though, so it's no big deal.  Still, it's nice to dump the email after a few years.

I'm a sleepy monkey.

I could update about how it's the end of the quarter and it's been the quarter from hell which steals my soul... but if I talk about it more, I'll just get more paranoid.  So, hey!  Let's talk wedding crap.

Date is set, as previously mentioned (May 29th).  Location is set, we've booked a small lodge at a local park.  Plenty of parking, nearby restrooms, full kitchenette with fridge, big back porch - it's pretty sweet.  Officiant has been found - one of Meridan's friends is obliging.  He's something of a junior politician, pagan, and willing to do it for free, so there you go.  Invitations are being made by me, because I'm a DIY idiot.  I'm also cheap, and while I love the pretty designs from professional artists, I can't afford them.  So, I'm making my own with a template I found online.  I hate using the paper cutter, but I have to admit, they're turning out pretty cute.

Dress was another story.

I'm not a dress girl.  I never fantasized about what dress to wear when I was little, I never paid the slightest attention to that kind of thing.  So, when I got engaged, it was my first foray into wedding wear.

Eugh.  That's all I can say about the vast majority of wedding dresses.  Eugh.

I dabbled extensively with the idea of both making my own dress and buying one online.  I decided too much was hinging on this thing to attempt a dress, since I'm not great at reading patterns.  And with online, I just didn't know what I would get until it came, and I didn't feel safe with the idea.  So scratch that crap.

I was nervous at the idea of going to a dressmaker's, mainly because of cost.  At first, I wanted a 50 dollar dress.  Then, I upped it to 100.  By last week, I was comfortable with the idea of a 200 dollar dress, only because it seemed like I wasn't going to be able to get anything decent for less than that.

So, with a $200 price point in mind, I went to Doria's, a local dress shop.  It was stocked for prom, so it was full of shiny colored things, which already made it awesome in my book.  But then, I noticed all the bodices on the walls.  I asked Doria about getting one of those and a nice flowy skirt, and she was all over the idea.  Plus, it'll come in at about $200 with tax, probably.  And she told me the prices before I said anything about my budget, so I know she wasn't bullshitting me.

Awesome experience all around.  I'll be going to try stuff on when Shen comes into town, probably.  And then she'll fall in love with some foofy maid of honor dress, and it'll be hilarious.  I guess I should probably get some of that horribly constricting, inhumane underwear before then.

So, yeah. I've got a date, a venue, an officiant, invitations, a wedding website with registries, and I've got a dress place.  I guess I'm having a wedding.  Huh.  :)

I'm doing pretty much all my posting from Dreamwidth now.  It's quite nice to be ad-free.  :)

I'll share invite codes as they come, never fear!

Anyways.  Everything gets crossposted, so you won't miss anything.

So, yeah.  The wedding is getting moved back, possibly until next spring.  I'm not yet ready to give up on 2009, though, and weather permitting, I'm seriously considering Halloween.  If we did that, I'd move the reception probably and just have the ceremony at Priest Point, since once it got later it'd probably get relatively cold.  I'm going to go pick up a Farmer's Almanac at the bookstore later and consider this.

I'm not trying to go gothy gothy pants with the whole thing - I just like Samhain, and fall is nice.  But it's just a thought.  I'm not really too much in the mood to think about the wedding with all the money issues we've been having, so I'm not going to worry about it for now.

I'm at work, and it's fucking 80 degrees here.  AUGH.
