Dec. 1st, 2009 03:38 pmHmph. Well, I WAS going to take a nap, but I decided to spontaneously clean part of my room, and now my bed is covered with odd socks and books and all the things one usually finds under a bed. Damnit.
Most of you who don't live under rocks have probably heard about the shooting of 4 Pierce County police officers here in Washington state. The shooting happened about 5-10 minutes away from the library where my father works, and the lone female officer killed was apparently a former Lacey police officer. It's really a very terrible, very sad thing. The four officers were in a coffee shop, working on laptops, when someone simply walked into the shop, shot all four of them, and ran.
I just read on the news that the one suspect they had has been killed as well by Seattle police officers. He was apparently in a broken-down car by the side of the road when they found him, and the claim is that he was reaching for a gun, so they immediately took him down.
I hate to say it, but I don't know that we'll ever know whether it was true that he attempted to go for a weapon. He was the only suspect, and with a police officer shooting like that, the practice is usually to shoot first and ask questions later.
That's my 2 cents on the whole thing. Now, they'll consider it all over, I suppose. It's really a terrible tragedy.
Uuugh I need that nap. Maybe I'll just hollow out a little spot here on the bed.
