Hm. I think I've talked to my father more today than I have in several weeks. He didn't make me cry, I didn't make him yell. It was all very civil and calm and straightforward.
We talked about my moving out. I ended up winning the disagreement we were having. He believes that he won, but he's very wrong. He doesn't seem to realize that I learned the trick long ago of demanding more than I need so that when he's forced to compromise somewhat, I actually get what I want. It always worked when I was a teenager, and I'm pleased to see I haven't lost my touch.
Of course, what I'm having to do in return for what he's doing for me is nothing short of silly, and involves my paying rent for a month or two on a place that I will not physically be going home to every evening. It's weird, but it'll do for now.
We also talked about my mother. He's so very finished with her. And after tonight, so am I. This week, I'll be calling some of our closer relatives and getting together some form of intervention. It's the last thing I want to do, but it's also the last thing to do. There's nothing else left. If I let the situation continue on the way it has been, I'm going to become completely intolerable company instead of just occasionally intolerable company. I have let every action she takes govern every emotion I have lately. The time has come to very gracefully tell myself, "Fuck that shit."
Fuck that shit. Wow, I'll make a great English teacher.

So. The Nana anime. It's all right. I mean, it's relatively true to the manga, which is good, but it doesn't really have the quirky feel about it like Paradise Kiss does, so it doesn't scream Ai Yazawa to me. I love that Romi Paku is the voice of Nana Oosaki, though. It's so funny to hear her doing a female voice, especially after hearing her do Ed from Fullmetal & Hitsugaya from Bleach. I'll keep watching. We'll see.
I really liked the xxxHolic anime, though. It doesn't translate as well from manga to anime as Tsubasa did, being speech heavy where Tsubasa is action heavy. But it's pretty and it has some original stories in it that didn't appear in the manga, which I like. I <3 Watanuki.
And the Host Club anime? Again, asdfasdflfsd. I. Am. Dying. Happy. It's absolutely everything I wanted. My only complaint was no shirtless Tamaki in the first episode. But a raging fangirl can't have everything. I'm still giddy, never fear.
I'ma gonna go make icons now, I think. And ooh, I have to do my taxes tomorrow. Mustn't forget.
