The more conventions you get interested in, the more horrifying the planning becomes. Balls.
I had been really hoping to go to Norwescon this year, but lo and behold, it is the same weekend as SakuraCon. Since I already talked to the publicity director at Kumoricon and promised her that we would be there, I really don't think I can get out of it. I also said I would do some volunteering at the con. Going to Norwescon was something I really wanted to do, but it was more of a personal/work kind of thing - there are some writing panels that I could really benefit from and usually there are a few authors that go whom I'd really like to meet. But I would have most likely been going by myself, which means expensive con, which means that I certainly can't do both.
Fuck. Y'know, I really am starting to feel like the anime cons are becoming more work and less enjoyment year after year. I did have fun at Kumoricon, but I also felt very old and very stuffy. I'm pretty sure that's not going to change as I get older.
Mkay. SakuraCon this year, but most definitely Norwescon the year after. And someday, when I actually have money, Wiscon. That would be a dream come true. But I can have Norwescon next year as a reward if I actually finish part, if not all, of the first draft of my book. One of my books. I need to stop coming up with ideas and actually work on one. That'd be nice.
I told you all there would be more pointless LJ updates. Bwaha.
