Ugh. I know it's not the first time I've said it, but damn... I wish I could trade this last week in for a new one. Seriously.
I take back all my complaining about my last cold - this flu was complete hell. I'm still coughing from it, and sleeping is still difficult.
Last Friday, after 5 days of not being able to leave the apartment or walk past the bathroom, I finally made it to a shift at work, and I was doing okay. My fever was gone, and I was starting to be able to eat again, so we all went out for dinner after Shen & were done with work. I had a very tiny but very tasty steak and the most delicious baked potato in the world, and we had a nice time hanging out afterwards while the boys played Resident Evil 5 and we watched. Very nice evening.
Until I started to get ready for bed and discovered that the water heater, which is a foot away from where I sleep, was leaking.
It must have been going all day, because so many things were soaked. Everything that was under the bed, all the stuff next to it - because I had been sick, that meant a ton of tissues along with sweaters and blankets and all sorts of stuff. An entire bag of yarn got ruined. It was unpleasant.
Of course, because we discovered this at 4 in the morning, we had no idea what to do. Meridan tried to move the hose a couple times and each time, the leak got worse until it was literally gushing out of the top of the heater. Towels were getting instantly soaked. We finally found an after hours emergency number and some very kind, very sleepy maintenance guy came and fixed it, but so much stuff was wet, including the bed we had to sleep on.
Things have mostly dried out now, but it was horrible.
