yadda yadda
Nov. 10th, 2009 08:31 amWell, I've pretty much given up on sleep for the night, seeing as how it is definitely no longer night.
As of today, I put a moratorium on myself in order to get us through the next 3 months - no buying anything I don't absolutely need. This allows me to go ahead and get the decent Trader Joe's food that I prefer and also afford things like the good cat food and litter. But yes, nothing. Christmas presents are okay. And things like my Free Realms account ($5 a month) and Netflix are fine too, but they are the only luxuries now for a while. I have plenty of books and printer ink and clothes and things like that. If I really want something, I'll have to either find it at Goodwill or wait.
If I don't do this, I just don't know how I'll be able to afford things like tuition and books next quarter. I won't be getting any more financial aid until spring quarter, so this winter is all me. I'll be working again, yes, but that will be mostly tuition money.
Also, our car is nearly fucking shot. We have no heater, which means no defroster, which is making driving AWFUL. The squealing noise won't stop, even though Meridan changed the belt. It's really worrying Meridan, I know it is, but I have no idea what to do about it. The thing has to last until spring.
I'll be at my parents' house all week this week. Mom's headed to Oregon again, and I've actually been having a really good time spending time with Ari, so I'm looking forward to it. I definitely need to do some laundry (you know when I'M out of clean panties, there's a problem), and I should go through some of the crap in my old room. Plus, it's fun hanging out with the kid. He's at a terribly obnoxious age, yes, but he's also at this age where he wants desperately to have adult conversations with me and with Meridan, and we're more than happy to oblige.
Anyway, regarding the sleep thing, I'll just snuggle up on the couch as soon as I get home, most likely with a dog-type thing on my feet.
Speaking of pets, I was thinking today that though it may seem like my cat is antisocial, she couldn't be further from it. Sure, she doesn't like to be picked up or held, and she runs if you walk towards her and try to catch her, but if things are on her terms, she couldn't be more cuddly. And as far as Finn and Ravage go, they're pretty much best buddies now. They have an understanding about the food and water in the living room - Ravage goes first, but if he's not inside or sleeping, it's all hers. I never keep her shut inside our room anymore now that I've switched Ravage's food.
So, yes, the food. I had to switch Ravage to Finn's food, since she was eating his food and throwing up bright orange puke all over everything. I'm the one to buy Ravage's food now anyways, and it made sense to just buy one kind. But I've also started giving them some canned food at night.
Ravage is perfectly cool with the new food, no issues, but OH MY GOD THE WET FOOD. He follows me everywhere now! I can't even go into the damn kitchen without hearing yowls coming from by my feet. I am apparently the bearer of awesome things.
Enough babbling. Time to annoy Meridan until he wakes up by poking him in the face.
