a-camping we will go
Mar. 18th, 2010 02:25 pmSo, since Meridan and I agreed that we would get him the netbook that he wants for his birthday at the end of April, I'm looking into buying some nice camping gear for him to use on his birthday. Obviously, we aren't able to get everything that we want just yet, but we should do pretty well.
Usually, we just borrow everything from his parents. This time, we're investing in our own little tent, and I'm looking to see whether we can afford an air mattress and a new camp stove both, or just one of those. I should probably buy my own cooler too instead of always borrowing my mom's.
Not being a big hiking or outdoor sport person, I don't think we'll be doing much together in the way of camping besides car camping. I think it's best to do that kind of thing anyways when you live in the Northwest - you just can't count on the weather, no matter the time of year, and you can see so much more when you car camp as opposed to hiking out to camping spots. Plus, I'm not an uphill kind of girl. Nuh uh.
However, I do really like little day hikes, and I frigging love being outside. One of the many benefits to our new apartment has been the amazing amount of windows, and when the sun comes out like today, my whole place fills with light and it just makes me itch to get outside.
I'm definitely going to need some new tennis shoes, though. I have no decent walking shoes, and the cute Kangaroos I got at the Goodwill, while very comfy, are ripping on one side and probably wouldn't make it through a hike.
Still haven't decided where to go. It's too early to go up north near Mt. Rainer, where I really want to go, so it's probably either the peninsula or down to the Cascades. If we do pick the Cascades, I don't even know whether we'll stay on the Washington or the Oregon side.
High class problems. :P
