ah, knitting entry. rejoice, everyone.
Nov. 9th, 2007 11:33 pm Man, I get so embarassed when people compliment my work on Ravelry. Some girl messaged me and called me 'innovative', and it was unbelievably sweet, but I think the compliment is a bit unwarranted. I mean, these aren't my own patterns I'm using. I just work really hard to find the right yarns for the right patterns. I guess I can be clever occasionally, but compared to the rest of the geniuses on that site, I'm just a decipel of the crowd.
Crochet, I suppose... with the crocheted stuff, I can get creative. But that's only because I've been doing it for so damn long. Even after a year, with my knitting, I pretty much have to stick to patterns to make stuff work. I can't magically fix mistakes in my knitting either. With crochet, shit - there's always a solution to stuff. Honestly, the solution to a few of my knitting projects has been to crochet a border and call it good.
And god, my attention span. I'm such a spaz. Although I did manage to finish a Calorimetry today. My desperation for a hat has reached critical level, and though I'd been messing around with gloves for a couple of weeks, I decided the one unbelievably pretty, yet teeny-tiny ball of overly expensive yarn would make a lovely Calorimetry. I <3 warm ears.
I can't wait to start making Christmas gifts. Handmade gifts are the absolute perfect presents for me to give to people for three reasons: one, they're cheap, yet made with love; two, they're enjoyable for me to make and easily personalized; and three, I can use said gifts for years to come as tools in my Guilt Machine.
"Oh, you bought a new hat, huh? Guess the one I made you didn't work out. Yeah, I wasn't sure if you'd like it or not, but I thought and thought about it, and it just seemed like the perfect gift for you. Next year, I'll buy you something. You just tell me what. I won't bother with the whole handmade thing."
INSTANT GUILT.
I now have some bitching WWII knitting patterns to check out tonight, so I shall be off.
