my moufh augh
Dec. 9th, 2009 02:53 pmWent to the dentist this morning.
Root canals ahoy. Can't afford them, since right after the exam I discovered that my dental insurance is SHIT. I only get $1000 of coverage a year, which will basically cover only mostly one of the root canals. And the crown you have to get afterwards costs $900 fucking dollars, of which insurance will only cover 50 percent.
I knew I'd need at least one, but the second was a surprise. Yippie yippie.
Anyways. I talked to my dad, and I'm just going to have the work done and get onto a payment plan. I think it's the best option at this point. I could go try and find something cheaper, but if I went to the dental college, I'd have to pay up front, and it would be a less than relaxing experience, methinks. My dad will help me make payments.
At least I really like the dentist. Not a big fan of his assistant, but he was super nice, super funny, and best of all, he admitted to having had a root canal himself. I've never heard a dentist admit that! It was reassuring, I have to say. He also said that I have an amazing threshold for pain, apparently. So, I'm just going to pay more and consider it an investment in my face. Whee.
I adore the United States right now.
