Aug. 22nd, 2008 01:12 pmOh, hello, birthday. You come upon me like a thing in the night, you do.
I have had several inquiries as to what I would like for my birthday, and I never know what to say. I mean, I have a list of things in my head that I would like, but explaining them would take so long that there would be tons of confusion, and it would end up being a hassle that no one wants anyways. I've asked my father for a little money so I can get these few things already, though. So I don't know.
Seriously, though, Joann's and Borders gift cards are an absolute win with me. I don't consider gift cards to be a cop out - I love them. It's like someone giving me permission to spend money at a store I like, when usually, I have to be so picky with my actual money that I never let myself indulge.
Plus, I've started getting back into cross-stitching pretty heavily again. However, since I haven't done it in about 13 years, I no longer have any of the necessary supplies. My mom's been nice enough to help me pick up a few things to get me started, but I've been working primarily with kits so far, and I'd like to try a pattern from scratch, which requires a ton of floss and a storage set-up for it. Not expensive, per se, but still more money than I have right now.
And books ALWAYS WIN.
I know, I know, I probably didn't need another hobby. But I'm not allowing myself to start another crochet project until I finish what I'm working on right now, and this was the perfect way to get around that. Hah HAH! And all my knitting needles suck, so I never want to knit. Good times.
And god, this hobby is so much cheaper than knitting. Damn. Yarn is frigging expensive.
